“As a volunteer artist working with the residents of Mahala’s Hope, I have been impressed with their strength in working on their recovery, striving to make a better life for themselves and their families.

Recently, they created ceramic sculptures, shaping and molding the clay into figures that represented their concept of “woman”. They carved personal traits and strengths into the clay. After firing, they applied their choice of patinas to reinforce the shapes and words.

It was a powerful, emotional experience to see how engaged and proud these “strong women” were with their creative efforts!”
