“My name is Carol. I went into my first treatment center when I was 24 years old. I am now 66 years old. I can’t even begin to count how many treatment centers I have gone to in the last 40 years. None of those programs were ever successful for me. I went to Mahala’s Hope in July 2021 and stayed for four months. Everything about the program was so different there. The activities and classes were so non-traditional and individualized. The staff, especially my counselor, Tierra, and Sandy, the Executive Director, were so attentive to my own personal needs. The other staff members, including the house manager and the instructors, were phenomenal. I’ve never felt so completely supported in a treatment center before, and they continued to support me even after I left!
Never being able to stay sober after treatment before, I am amazed that on January 13, I have six months of sobriety. I have nothing but extreme gratitude for Mahala’s Hope because they have done for me what no other treatment facility has ever been able to do.
