Wisdom from the granddaughter of a past resident.

The other day, I was spending some time with my 11-year-old great granddaughter, Pearl, when she asked me a question. She said, “what do you want to do with your life?” It took me several seconds to think of how to answer that, because I am 76 years old! I then told her about the things that I did in my life that were important and meaningful to me. She then said to me, “ you forgot something!” As I thought about it more, she said, “it starts with M.” When I couldn’t think of anything, she said, “Mahala’s Hope.” She was right! Mahala’s Hope was a very important part of my life, having completed the 90 day residential program. Her insightfulness never ceases to amaze me. Whenever we drive on HWY 45 and go past Mahala’s Hope, she will open the window to say hi to the horses and calls them all by their names.
